Welcome to the official website of Barnegat Fire Company No. 1, Ocean County Station 11. Barnegat Fire Company was founded in 1909 and has been providing fire protection for Barnegat Township ever since.
We're a volunteer fire company, providing fire suppression and emergency services for the township of barnegat. Our membership consists of men and women from various backgrounds. We are business owners, law enforcement officers, accountants, sales executives, truck drivers, students, etc. But most importantly, we're your friends and neighbors and we take great pride in serving our community. Each and every Barnegat firefighter is certified by the State of New Jersey Division of Fire Safety. every firefighter must attend and graduate from an accredited Fire Academy within the state of New Jersey.
The basic training is Firefighter Level 1 which consists of 180 hours of classroom and hands-on fire ground instruction over the course of six months. Our training does not stop upon graduation. members become certified in CPR and Vehicle Extrication. We continuously train to ensure we provide the best services possible for you our residents. Our firefighters routinely take advantage of training programs offered by Local, County, State, and Federal agencies throughout New Jersey. We take great pride in being “Volunteer in name, Professional in action”.
Our department operates out of two stations within the township borders. The Main Station is located on Birdsall Street in the original section of town known as Downtown and houses two Engines, one Mini Pumper, and A 3,000 Gallon Tender/Engine. Substation 11-1 is located at 499 Barnegat Boulevard near the corner of West Bay Avenue and houses a Rescue Engine, 105' quint, Brush Truck, and two utility Vehicles.
Our coverage area consists of 41 square miles of residential, commercial, agricultural, and bay front property. we respond to between 650-700 calls for service annually within Barnegat and the surrounding towns.
we encourage you to stop by the fire station located at 499 barnegat blvd for a tour and a chance to meet some of the members on any sunday morning between the hours of 10am and 12pm.
Every name you see here is responsible for keeping our fire station up and running. From volunteer firefighters to trustees and house officers, Barnegat Fire Company is a firehouse in New Jersey comprised of dedicated individuals volunteering their time for the good of their community.
